Happenings

February 10, 2010

Christmas 2009.

Each year during the Christmas Mass, residents, members of staff, sometimes locals and volunteers, if any, act out the story of the birth of the new born king, the Saviour of the world.  Angelica played the part of Mary.  The angel Gabriel was played by  staff member Angelo, a local boy took the role of St. Joseph and Baby Jesus was one of the babies in the Home. The angels were played by some of the residents whilst others participated as the Maggi, the three wise men.  Those involved in the story always enjoy it and this  Christmas was no exception.

The Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Liam Hayes, SVD and those attending the ceremony were residents, staff members, relatives of staff members and locals.

Security Wall.

Due to robberies from the garden, we have no option but to build a high

new security wall

New security wall

security wall which will probably mean borrowing money.  A local man had donated fruit trees to the Home and 100 of them were stolen.  Hector, who looks after the garden was, to say the least, very upset as he had spent a great deal of time in planting them with great care.  Moreover, somebody slashed other trees with a machete causing them extreme damage.  All of these events have resulted in delaying our aim of  being more self sufficient for a very long time.  It is a waste of time in planting more trees and vegetables until the wall is erected.  Hopefully, this work will be completed within the next two months.
